Key points
- Deezer is developing a toggle to filter out AI-generated music, expected before the end of the year.
- The feature will hide AI tracks, albums, and related artists from search results.
- Deezer reported that over 50% of daily uploads are AI-generated, averaging 90,000 tracks per day.
Deezer announced on Tuesday that it is working on a new toggle to let users filter out AI-generated music on its platform. The feature is expected to be available before the end of the year.
When activated, the toggle will prevent AI-generated tracks, albums, and related artists from appearing in search results.
What Deezer said
CEO Alexis Lanternier said in a statement that there is clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music. He added that the surge of AI music on the platform was one of the reasons for the toggle-based features.
Deezer cited a survey from last year showing that around 45% of its customers wanted a way to remove AI music from their feeds.
We’ve seen clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music, and we are now giving everyone the option to remove this content completely from their streaming experience on Deezer, and focus only on human creators and creations, if they wish

AI music on the rise
Deezer introduced AI-detection tooling last year and has since tracked uploads. At that time, AI-generated tracks made up 10% of daily uploads.
In July, the company said more than 50% of daily uploads were AI-generated, with an average of 90,000 tracks per day.
Other platforms' policies
Other streaming services have adopted different approaches. Bandcamp has completely banned AI tracks, while Tidal cut off monetization for AI music uploads. Spotify only tags AI tracks and artists more prominently.
In August, Variety reported that Apple Music was looking to label AI tracks by the end of the year. Users are also turning to independent tracking systems to identify AI music.
