Analogue announced new versions of its Super Nt and Mega Sg retro consoles today. The Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus feature a reworked industrial design and built-in wireless connectivity for controllers and accessories.
Like the originals, both consoles play Nintendo and Sega Genesis cartridges through an FPGA processor that recreates the 16-bit hardware without emulation. Neither supports 4K output, but both offer 1080p.
New ports and wireless options
The upgraded consoles add a USB-C port for power and an extra USB-A port for peripherals. They also include built-in Bluetooth or a low-latency 2.4Ghz wireless connection, so gamepads work without a controller port dongle.
Wired controllers remain an option, and either console can be powered on remotely using the connected primary gamepad. Analogue says cartridges can now be hot swapped after quitting a game through a menu, without fully powering down.
