Valve is rolling out a new Steam feature called achievement sets, which lets developers organize achievements into separate groups for a base game and its DLCs. The feature is available now in the latest Steam client beta, according to Valve.
In games that support sets, players still unlock achievements by playing as usual, but Steam will break the long list into developer-created sets when browsing unlocked achievements. Valve said this makes it easier to see what has been completed and find related achievements to unlock next.
How sets work
Each achievement set has its own progress bar. Completing a set earns a set complete trophy that appears on the player's profile.
Steam will also support seasonal achievement sets that developers can archive. Valve said there are many fun ways games can use the temporary nature of these sets, such as adding achievements to season-based games or enabling time-limited holiday achievements.
