This week's podcast roundup leads with Heart, an eight-part series hosted by Karen Kilgariff. It begins with a man dying from a gunshot wound and reveals that his heart had stopped before, having belonged to another man who died the same way and shared the same wife. The series moves between scientific exploration and true crime, with all episodes available on Apple from Monday 19 October.

Other picks include a new season of Inheritance on BBC Sounds, out in full from Monday 19 October, in which Sofia Bettiza looks into the Agnelli family, founders of Fiat, sometimes called "the Kennedys of Italy". The family was shaken by the death of patriarch Gianni.

New evidence in nurse case

Louise Shorter investigates the case of Colin Norris, a Leeds nurse convicted of murdering four elderly patients and attempting to kill two more. New evidence suggests the patients were not murdered, and the series starts with the insulin poisoning of Ethel Hall. Episodes are released weekly.

Diane Watson and maths experiment

Journalist Audrey Gillan takes a delicate approach to the 1991 murder of 16-year-old Diane Watson in Glasgow by a classmate. The six-part BBC Scotland series covers the consequences for her killer and her family's fight to stop the press defaming her, with all episodes out from Monday 19 October on BBC Sounds.

Education journalist Emily Hanford follows her first season on US reading teaching, after which 26 states changed how they teach reading. Her new series tells of a US maths experiment that left four-year-olds fluent in algebra, only for it to be shunned. Episodes are widely available weekly.
