Key points

YouTube appears to be testing hiding the dislike button on videos, according to 9to5Google. At least two users on X have recently posted screenshots showing the dislike button placed in the three-dots submenu, and a Reddit user also shared an image of the button being absent.
Currently the dislike button sits next to the like button under a video. Moving it into a submenu would make it harder to reach, which would likely mean fewer people use it.
Earlier changes to dislikes
YouTube has changed the dislike button before. In 2021 it hid the public dislike count on videos to help "protect creators from harassment," though creators can still see the counts.
Earlier this year, YouTube removed the dislike button from YouTube Shorts and pointed users toward options in the three-dots menu instead.
