Heidi Klum reveals a giant severed hand as 2026 Halloween costume

The TV personality went viral in 2022 when she arrived at a party encased in a slithering worm costume.

Key points

  • Heidi Klum dressed as a giant severed hand for her annual Halloween party in New York on Saturday.
  • Klum said the idea came from looking at her own left hand and thinking she could fit her body inside it.
  • She said the costume took five to six hours to put on and was hard to carry because it was heavy.

Heidi Klum arrived at her annual Halloween party in New York on Saturday dressed as a giant, gruesome severed hand, 25 years after she began hosting the event. She was unrecognizable, with only her eyes and mouth visible and blood dripping from her mouth as she stuck out her tongue.

The costume was modeled on her own left hand, complete with long red nails, a thumb ring and her engagement and wedding bands. The top of the hand ended in dangling ligaments and tendons, and she was accompanied by helpers in blood-stained hazmat suits.

How the idea came about

Klum said she came up with the idea last year. She recalled looking at her hand and thinking she could fit her body inside it somehow.

She said getting into the costume this year took about five to six hours, while making it took much longer. Earlier in the day she posted hints on Instagram as bloodied prosthetics were applied to her face.

Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it. It's quite heavy.

Past costumes and party details

Klum went viral in 2022 when she arrived on the end of a fishing line in a slithering worm costume. In past years she has dressed as Medusa, a peacock, an 8-foot-tall Transformer, a werewolf from Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, a clone with several Klum-lookalikes, and Kali, the multiarmed Hindu goddess.

Her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, did not attend this year because he was on tour. His name appears as a tattoo on the costume's ring finger, and Klum said a little bit of him was with her.
